I wanted to write you a note to say thank you! Thank you for giving me opportunities to climb the ranks in my career and to having leaders that have encouraged me to stay true to my authentic self. I have been in the industry for almost 20 years (yikes that sounds scary)...and have been on a journey of trying to reconcile my Corporate America life versus my heart's calling to serve....then it dawned on me..there is no need to reconcile...it is because of you I have been able to create this beautiful life....
So with a heart filled of gratitude- I say thank you. if it wasn't for you Corporate America- I could not of started my own non-profit City Chik on a Mission. City Chik on a Mission is a non profit based on the belief of influencing change globally through grassroots projects and personal connections.
If it WASN"T for you - Corporate America
~ I would not be fortunate enough to cover all of the administrative expenses myself.
~I would not be able to have 100% of donors money go directly to grassroots charity.
~I would not have developed the business skills necessary to make City Chik successful and to carry out my vision.
~ I would not have experienced failures that made me stronger and showed me tenacity is key.
~ I would not have been exposed to the challenges of the world and be able to experience them first hand.
~ I would not have been able to be a leader that breaks the mold of the corporate sterotypes.
It is BECAUSE of you - Corporate America
~ I am able to live my dream.
~ I am able to be a leader.
~ I am able to serve and reach a larger demographic.
~ I am able to have the confidence that every obstacle can be overcome.
~ I am able to be in many situations and know how to handle myself and acclimate.
~ I am able to show others the compassionate side of our business world.
~ I am able to follow my heart both professionally and personally & find my true "Life Balance".
I felt compelled to write you this letter Corporate America- because while people are always looking to point out the negative...I believe in my heart there is a great deal of positive. In October I am heading back to Kenya to build a daycare in Korogocha- a slum in Kenya (below)....it is a project filled with love and gratitude. Thank you Corporate America for giving me the time and the opportunity to spread my wings and to be all that I can possibly be!
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
