I can hardly wait to go to Kenya in the fall and meet these amazing children. You see- while I may not have my own children- I am blessed to meet, nurture, love, and help children around the globe and while it is by no means the same as having children there is a whole other spectrum I am able to experience. It is all about learning first hand how children live across the globe , about how to give your full heart just for the short amount of time, it is about love- in its purest sense. I have learned that with your help we can make a difference...it might be grassroots but it is a difference.
This project brings on a whole new level of excitement- because it is our OFFICIAL first City Chik project as a 501c3. We are going to do amazing things here in this slum and for this daycare. We have been raising funds through our sales in our shop! We have awesome chic goods that are meant for the beautiful spring & summer weather but most importantly these goods have been made by locals across the globe! It is so awesome to see the vision of City Chik coming together!
Many of the places I have been to around the globe have always struggled with parents caring for their children with disabilities. It is always heartbreaking to see but as they say you never understand someone's situation until you walk in their shoes. And well you & I will most likely never walk in their shoes but we can extend our Pink Hearts to help!
This daycare was started by James and Joseph introduced me. They have started something really beautiful and with City Chik on a Mission and your involvement we are going to take it to the next level. What does that mean? We are going to raise funds to buy land, build a place for children to sleep, purchase supplies, understand the needs for small equipment we could purchase, Together with us and James and Joseph we are going to help these children. We are going to connect all of our pathes in the next phase of the daycare, we are going to create a special place that takes all of our pink hearts, energy and love, and we are going to make a change!
In this digital world that we live in today- we are going to share the stories of the project, the stories of these unbelievably sweet children, the stories of James & Joseph, and the stories of finding artisans in which we can support to help with future funding. I promise you a heart filled journey with laughs, love and moments that just warm your soul.
So what do you say....will you join me in making us ONE big family?
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
