Armenia is special.....can't put my finger on it..but very special. The people here have such warm hearts...and they are so hard working, they love their country and want to share with you all of the stories- those both real and legends.
There is so much to say and show through pictures- but I want to write about an organization called Family Cares Organization of Yerevan.(http://villaayghedzor.com) When we arrived in Gyumri- we were unsure of what to expect- it is the second largest city to Yerevan. It was like taking a time machine back to ancient days..we had reservations at a place called Villa Kars. We had no idea when we were entering the love story that would unfold...
Antonio- the owner- is from Italy (guess that is kindof obvious). You see he came after the earthquake to help the people- he is a doctor. He fell in love with Gyumri and Armenia and made it his mission to pick up and move. When you meet Antonio- his warmth and openess is simply delightful. His hope is that he establishes these boutique hotels that perserve the Armenian buildings and culture as well as providing employment to the locals. When he speaks his love for Armenia is all from the heart and you almost become overwhelmed with emotion...and when you compliment him about his work and the fact he is not even Armenian..he states- "It is the universal law- we are here to help each other".
That statement resonated with me at my core- because you know me- I truly believe with all my heart that we are one family and should make it our individual mission to help each other...it is just a beautiful thing. It doesnt have to be grand or dramatic...just little things- perhaps helping someone going through a hard time, maybe smiling at someone that looks like they are having a bad day or maybe just making eye contact with strangers and realizing- we are all in this together- feel your guards come down and feel your heart warm...that my friends is really living!
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
