GET TO KNOW US
Cheryl is a born and raised New Yorker- her childhood was spent in Long Island and post college has been spent in her beloved NYC. Cheryl attended college in Lynchburg, Virginia majoring in Art History. Cheryl never imagined she would find herself back in NYC and working in Finance for the past 18 years. What is unique is the way Cheryl leads with love & mindfulness in her corporate life- this has allowed her to stay true to her authentic self and have a successful career.
Cheryl is a “City Chik” loving all the luxuries provided by living in a city like NYC/Brooklyn. On the weekends you can find her at the spa, riding her bike along the west side highway, and for sure at her special place called Iplaza. Cheryl also loves being with her friends and trying new places- but she has her neighborhood faves (“The Greek”) that she ducks into her by herself and works on City Chik or reads a book over fab food and a glass of vino. Meditation is a key part of Cheryl’s daily routine as well as going to a flywheel class- both help keep her centered.
Cheryl is always “On a Mission” whether that is with her passion for her work or her volunteering. Cheryl has been volunteering since she was a young girl in various capacities whether it was as a candistriper, foster grandparenting or her involvement with special Olympics, teen youth agencies, Susan G Komen, Gods Love We Deliver, Big Brother Big Sister,-- it is part of her core.
As Cheryl’s career expanded and she found herself unable to do hands on volunteering she turned to volunteer vacations because they combined two things she loves most- traveling and volunteering. But what she learned was much more- she became engrained in cultures, connected to people from all different walks of life, she learned about others and herself, and most of all she realized there is so much to do together.
Over the past 10 years Cheryl has traveled the world and spent 2 weeks to a month in Peru at Mother Teresa for the Destitute and the Dying, in Romania at a Failure to Thrive Clinic for Children, in Tanzania- Impalamwa a remote village building a dormitory, in Ghana - building a classroom, Appalachia- working on someones home, Nepal- teaching monks at the monastery, and Kenya working in Kibera and building a library. Each trip she has brought hundreds of pounds of donations she had collected from people sharing in the specific mission and has brought back the local goods to share with all. Most recently, Cheryl spent a month in Kenya building a daycare for disabled children. For more information look at Our Work page.

ABOUT CITY CHIK ON A MISSION
City Chik on a Mission is a labor of love by all that have joined in the mission. Over the past few years, City Chik has entered impoverished areas partnering with locals in leading grassroots projects. Our projects have focused on the community, schools, daycares and after school programs. By joining efforts within the United States and connecting across the globe we have been able to provide an unique connection for our donors. With our ongoing efforts and connectivity we are building a sustainability that allows us to change the communities that we enter and allows our donors to get updates through social media. Most important to our founder is that 100% of donors money goes directly to our projects therefore, Cheryl covers all of the administration expenses. City Chik on a Mission allows us to become a global family.
“People don't have to change their lifestyles to make imprints on the hearts and souls of the world. If by providing my personal touch I can help bridge the gaps we can together make the world a better place all while having a deep appreciation with how lucky we truly are for what we have”.
